Chapter Three - To solve things
Duo stood naked in front of the bathroom mirror. He looked deep into his own eyes and wondered about yesterday’s events. Needless to say, the matter bothered him and he made it certain to himself that he would not allow another person to get away like Heero did. Duo needed a plan, he needed to figure what to do and he would not fail. As he trailed into thoughts, he almost fell into tears again, fearing the worst. But no – Ryoma would be a new friend to him. And back in some of his thoughts, Duo did admit that he wasn’t lying at all about calling the boy cute. In fact, he was putting it mildly.
It was no surprise to himself or anyone else that Ryoma was at the same spot this morning. Same looking shorts, same t-shirt, same tennis racket, same hobby. And the same look on his face that spoke words like “I know what you’re going to say and I planned my answer before you even thought of the question”. The look wasn’t bad, or evil, it was just a sign that he was happy alone, doing what he felt like doing alone. Except this time, he would be facing something he just wasn’t prepared for.
Duo made sure everything about him shined today. His smile being the key thing of course, it was assisted by suitable clothing, highly similar to Ryoma’s selection. Before leaving his room, he stood a few more moments in front of the mirror – nothing less than a perfect smile would do. If he decided to be happy, no rain could stop that, and certainly no newcomer that wouldn’t smile back.
Duo stood behind Ryoma happily, and ready to start. “Ryoma, I’m sorry about yesterday. What I did wrong was walking away when you needed me most”. Ryoma catches the ball in his hand and turns around “I was fine”.
Duo stopped and thought about it, not showing any sign of failure. He nodded to himself and looked at Ryoma. “I’m sorry; my words got all messed up. This is what I wanted to say”. And with that, he approached Ryoma and gave a kiss on the boy’s cheek, just like that. And inside, Duo felt very, very proud of doing it. “This is how we apologize over here” he smiled, and tapped Ryoma’s shoulder. This time, he didn’t mind the boy’s silence at all, but he made sure to reply with a sweet, honest smile.
