The day turned slowly to night around the mansion. The main hall silenced and the bishounen, as well as their masters, returned to their rooms. The sound of a large conversation turned into multiple smaller sounds of TV sets being turned on, or in some cases, just silence for those that would rather read or go to bed early. Gyokutei didn't feel like going to bed early today. He usually did, but this wasn't his day. "A crush..." he thought to himself, going over the talks of the day "looks like Gyokutei had a crush on Kinnison". His mind was keeping him busier than any good book or movie ever would. "You're an old man" he told himself, while another voice in his head reminded him of an earlier discussion "you're only as old as you tell yourself". Perhaps that thought was right today. He was around five thousand years old but today he didn't feel a day over two thousand. His confusion of thoughts turned into a weak smile as he looked in the mirror "Gyokutei, old man...young man, you're in love". But then his thoughts came back "...with the untouchable. Of course. I want him, I can not have him. If I could, would I still want it? Why can't I have him?". He continued to speak with himself. "He's eighteen, you're...older. Much older". Finally, he chose to try and sleep, if it would make him calm down. It didn't. Gyokutei preferred a cool environment, so he took off his clothes, except for his underwear, and sat on his bed. He looked at himself closely. "How old am I?" he thought. "How old is this hand of mine, touching this other one? How old is this body? How young is it?". Finally, he lied down on the bed, looking up at the ceiling. "How old are these eyes that see? How young are they? How young is Kinnison? How young is this feeling of love?" ~*~*~*~*~ Kinnison was confused of his surroundings. All his life he had lived in the forest, slept under a tree, in a cave, where ever he could stay warm with Shiro, his wolf. Today, however, he was escorted to a large room, with a large bed. Shiro did not mind the room, as he quickly found a soft corner of the carpet to sleep on. Kinnison however was more confused than his animal friend. The boy sat on the bed, trying to get used to the idea of sleeping in it. The bed felt soft, too soft, unnaturally soft, but still in a way unnaturally hard. He was not sure how he should feel about it, he only knew that he could not sleep on it. After walking in circles, he chose to appreciate the way Shiro managed the situation. He lay down on a corner of the main carpet, and found a small blanket to put on his legs to keep them warm. It was a bit warm though, so he chose to take off most of his clothes first. Then, after finding a comfortable position, he lied down again. But he couldn't get himself to sleep. The boy crawled around from side to side. He felt tired, but couldn't sleep. He had never felt like this, every night he would fall asleep when he felt tired. "What could be wrong?" He asked himself. The uncertainty started to scare him, as he was most certainly not used to this. He did not feel hungry or thirsty, and he felt safe where he was. He had found many new friends he could trust, and he knew Shiro was doing well too. But then, when the boy thought about his friends, his mind stopped. He knew how much he trusted them all, but there was something more. A friend...Gyokutei...his mind stopped on him. Soon, Kinnison's mind thought of nothing else but the few words Gyokutei said to him during the day. Before long, the thoughts of these happy conversations helped the young boy sleep peacefully. ~*~*~*~*~ Kinnison was used to waking up as the sun started shining, ready to start another day bright and early. This was not a day he was used to, though. His evening was long and his thinking during the previous night took too much of his time. Even Shiro walking around him didn't wake him up, it wasn't until he heard a voice from nearby... "Good morning, Kinni" the familiar voice sounded. "You okay? Why are you on the floor? Anything wrong?". Finally the boy opened his eyes and saw his friend Cloud looking at him. It took a while for Kinnison to gather his thoughts again but he was finally able to greet his friend. "Good morning, is it late?". Cloud smiled and shaked his head. "Just coming to see everything's okay. You're a new guy to the place, I just hope you haven't been teased too much by those loving masters yet. But...why are you on the floor?" Kinnison stood up and gathered his clothes together. "I sleep better on the floor, I'm not used to beds. By the way, where's the closest pond or river? I'd need to wash myself a bit." The spikey-haired boy laughed, but soon remembered the backgrounds of Kinnison - not many showers in a common forest. "I think the answer is a bit closer, like perhaps, behind that door" Cloud spoke as he showed the way. After getting over an interesting challenge of teaching Kinnison how to operate the shower, Cloud decided to wait in the corridor. Cloud's shock was guaranteed when a hand tapped his elbow, speaking a question with an innocent voice. "How does one dry himself after this shower? Is there any other way than to wait? There's no sun here, it takes a long time and I thought...what is wrong Cloud?". Cloud, even in shock, quickly pushed Kinnison inside his room again. "Um...usually we don't walk naked in the corridor. Let's go find you a towel". After some more little lessons from Cloud about living in a house, Kinnison was ready to join the breakfast table. However, before he left, he wanted to use the chance he had to ask another question. "What do you know of Gyokutei, Cloud?" Cloud's face turned into a soft look and eventually a smile. "How did that come up, Kinni-kun?". Kinnison was unsure what to say, as he wasn't even sure himself why he asked the question. Cloud was fortunately more ready with words. "I see your point. Look, ask him yourself. I know he has a long past, he's taken care of Youzen and that he's a very calm, intelligent man. He thinks good and he loves life and nature a lot. He's a good man, I wish I knew him better. Everyone could learn from him..." Cloud looked out the window before turning back to his younger friend "...and I think he appreciates your company. Grant him that, and you can learn much. He won't hurt you". With that, Cloud decided to walk away and leave Kinnison to his thoughts - clearly, there was quite a number of them in his head right now. ~*~*~*~*~ Kinnison might have been known as being a bit shy but also knowing to appreciate good tips from good friends. There was no change in this today, as after breakfast he chose to approach this man that had been on his mind so much now. They said he was old, but Kinnison could not easily believe that as he looked at that long, purple hair of his. In fact, Gyokutei did not seem much older, even though he was taller. Kinnison's soft, innocent words could have melted anyone's thoughts, and this purple haired man was no exception. Those soft words he would remember for a long time. "Hello, Gyokutei, I'd like to talk" ~~-~~-~~-~~ "...so nobody knows that either. It's been here a while, all of it...there's been some rebuilding but it's all of unknown origin" Gyokutei continued his talk. As the two friends gazed at the bishounen mansion from the garden outside, Kinnison felt a need to open his mouth too - he had been very quiet while listening to his friend's stories. "Do we really have to know everything?" he asked, looking up at the smiling man. "No, you're right. There are more important things to know than the history of a few pieces of wood and stone", he said softly, while gazing into the deep eyes of his younger friend. "I'm so happy you had time to show this all to me", the boy softly replied. Gyokutei could only smile more - "it was my greatest pleasure. Anytime and anything". With that, Gyokutei took Kinnison's other hand and held it comfortably. The two friends continued their walk around the mansion gardens, and into the nearby forest. Both of them loved nature above all else, so seeing beauty everywhere around was just a matter of opening their eyes. Gyokutei suggested a new path "let's go to the top of the hill, there's a fine view. If you're up to it, it's a bit of climbing". Kinnison was not new to nature and the challenges of moving around, and as he nodded his head, he started running ahead and soon it was Kinnison who was showing the way. Gyokutei was amazed at the energy of this young beauty - he would just run and run without getting tired, whereas Gyokutei had to push himself to his limits just to keep up at times. Finally however, the two arrived at the uppermost area of the hill, and indeed the view was worth it. Endless forests on one side, hills and mountains on the other, the ocean far beyond, the towers of bishounen mansion barely visible. Anywhere they looked, the shining beauty of nature on a bright spring day was the greatest thing to see. The view was invigorating, it seemed to spread it's energy, it's strength, to everyone. The two friends were no exception, as even with Gyokutei being out of breath for a while from running, only a quick view of this amazing artwork of nature made him stop and enjoy just that moment with all his mind. He had been here before, but never before had it seemed like this - it was not just a view, it was a feeling of peace, of love from everywhere around - concentrating around the young, beautiful boy next to him. Finally, Gyokutei felt strong enough to talk. "Sit down with me, would you, Kinni-kun?" he asked politely. As the two sat down, Gyokutei took his friends hands and held them softly. "Kinni...I...want to talk with you". Kinnison had no idea of what to expect, but a talk, any talk with this nice man seemed like the best way to use time. "Sure, what do you have in mind?" "I know we...have much in different. Our past, what we are...but I want to think we have something in common" the man started. Kinnison smiled happily with an innocent smile enough sweet to soften anyone's heart. "We all share the nature around us, and I see you understand it very well. We share thoughts, words, ideas. We're open and we seem to get along. I don't see the meaning of all those differences here, and I don't think they can hurt" the young boy said. Kinnison was looking a bit unsure of where the conversation was going, but he wanted to speak his mind. Gyokutei wanted to say it all, every feeling in his heart, but he knew he had to slow down or he would risk scaring his friend away. Suddenly... "Shiro!" Kinnison jumped from the chair as his wolf ran to him. Shiro had been walking around the forests for a while as he often did, but he always came back to Kinnison, no matter how far away. Kinnison sat down again, as Shiro walked closer to his loving master. Kinnison felt the smooth fur on his animal friend, who also chose to sit down for a while. To Gyokutei, this was a situation he didn't anticipate, but he could not stop himself from speaking more. "Kinnison...I...want to be a friend. I want us...to be friends". Kinnison, accepting this happily, nodded, while talking with Shiro. "Very good friends...I want us to be really good friends, Kinnison. You and me". Finally, Kinnison turned back to Gyokutei, who was looking concerned. Gyokutei thought to himself "maybe Kinnison did not want to be that much", but those doubts were soon wiped off, as Kinnison smiled in his soft smile again and spoke softly. "I think we already are, Gyokutei, and I know we will be. We manage well together." More words were not exchanged, as Gyokutei's eyes met the soft eyes of his young friend again, moving closer, before he joined the two in a soft hug. The two friends held each other closely, even passionately, while sharing each others' warmth. Shiro observed as the two did not want to let go, not easily. After enjoying the view and the amazing moment of friendship for a bit longer, the two returned to the mansion, walking slowly and holding hands, with Shiro following.
